Refreshing Data of subreport from VB6 Programme

Hello,
In my application I am getting this error in refreshing the data in sub reports in crystal report 8.
In an application in single reports there are 8 subreports comming from single database table. The system is real time system. Data is continuously being fetched,but I am not getting correct reports for current date.

Anybody who has the solution for this probblem ,please let me know. Report is -Crystal Report 8 & Front end is vb6

Hello,

My system is real time system, so every hour My database is getting updated.
My Report will always have new data for new date.
While creating parameter field I have saved the data for specific condition.
Now that report is not getting refreshed for current date.
Will I get the required data of specific date by removing the parameter field from main report?

Do you require any other information about my system?

I still don't understand the problem you are having. Please answer the following questions. Numbering the answers will help me understand which answer goes with which question.

1. You mentioned an error, are you getting an error message?

2. You say that you are not getting correct reports for that date. What is incorrect?

3. You mentioned saved data. Open the menu File-Report Options and see if you have a check mark for "Save Data with Report"?

4. Which is printing bad information, the main report, the subreports or both.

5. What are your parameter fields, and how are they used. Ken Hamady

Hello,

Here is some other information about the real time system.

1. I am not getting any error message. Actually calling the report in VB is not a Problem.
Problem is that I am getting totally blank report. All the data for that particular date
is available in database ,still that data is not being fetched in the crystal reports.So inplace of actual data i am getting blank report,which is incorrect.

2. As I have written above the plant readings which are getting stored in database every hour are not shown in the report for current date. Thia is incorrect.

3. While creating parameter field I tested that report in preview.At that time I have to give particular date. I saved that report with data. This is the thing which I feel is going against automatic refreshing of the data.

4.I do not have single field in main report except date field which is required for the parameter passing.
Every other field is there in subreport, & hence the fault.

5. My parameter field is date field. Same field is there in subreport.
I am passing date to main report through selection formula.This date is then passed to the subreports so that report for that particular date is generated.

I have kept the parameter field there in main report. I have read that there is no need of keeping the parameter field in the report.
Please throw some light on this matter,as the reports are generated in most irregular manner.

In question 3 I asked you to open a menu window and check for a check mark. If the check mark for "Save Data" is still there, then remove it, save the report, and try it.

Also, does this report work when refreshed while in the design environment?

I believe that your main report has to return some records or it won't try to run the subreports. Even if if doesn't print anything it has to return some records. You seem to say that there are no fields in the main report other than the parameter.

Hi,

I have saved that report without data But still following problems are there.Also in my main report as I said earlier there is only date field in detail section which is suppressed. This date field is used with the parameter.

1. In the database there data gets stored only once for each hour , still in my report some data records get repeated.
2.Data missing for particular hour is the persistent error.

3. will ReImporting the subreport do the needful to refresh the data?
If yes how it is to be done through VB ?

Please clarify these doubts.

I thought the report was completely blank?

Most importantly, does this report work when refreshed while in the design environment?
