Refresh Linked OLE Object

I have an Access97 report with a pair of imbedded linked Word documents. I cannot get Access to reliably refresh the linked documents displayed in the report when they change. The Documents are linked, not embedded. Is there something I can do in VBA to force a refresh to bring in the changes? If it makes a difference, a procedure behind the scenes copies a document to a fixed name. It is the fixed name that is linked in the Access report. I'll be glad to provide more detail. I'm just not sure what info to provide.
