Ok, i have win2000 pro installed, and im looking to use fdisk to delete my partitition, and re-install, got all my files backed up and ready to go, problem is I cant seem to get where i need to be.
With win98 id just start, shutdown, restart in dos mode, win2k wont let me.
After searching for a solution to this problem, all I could find is use a bootdisk, however, my floppy A: is incapacitated, simply doesnt work, any ideas??

Any help is greatly appreciated, thx

you need to run the installation cd of w2k again. Please boot fron the CDROM, and not fron the HDD or FDD. When it asks you which partition to install, it also gives you a choice if you want to delete a partition. delete the partition and quit the istallation. then boot from a floppy and run fdisk. You cant remove a NTFS partition any other way, unless u use a 3rd party software like partition magic or something like that. This will solve your problem.

Actually you can remove an NTFS partition with a Win98 boot disk. When it asks if you would like to view the NTFS partition as a Large Hard Drive select yes. Then you can kill the partition fine. This does work. I have done it this way a few times. Please let us (Tek-tips members) know if the solutions we provide are helpful to you. Not only do they help you but they may help others.
