I'm sure there is an easy answer to this one. I want to create a summary worksheet that refers back to cells in previous worksheets in the same workbook. I can easily reference the cells by typing "=NAME!C3", but I want to add a variable to that cell reference so I can change which cell is referred to by an integer in another cell. ie If cell A1 has a value of 3, I want cell D2 to refernce a cell on another worksheet column A row 2 + A1 (which is set to 3), therefore it's looking at A5. Has anyone followed that! Ideally, I want to say in cell D2 please look at the value in cell A(2+A1).

Assuming D2 is on Sheet2, and A2 in on Sheet1, the following formula in D2

=OFFSET(Sheet1!A2;Sheet2!A1;0)

which means:
- start at A2 on Sheet1
- go down as many rows as the number in A1 on Sheet2
- and give me the value in that cell
(the "0" means move 0 columns to the right or left).

Excellent! Many thanks Ilses, that works perfectly. DEC
