Good morning!

TGIF!

I have several small sql 2000 servers that just run. Never any problems.

Well....
We have finally outgrown our main sql 2000 hardware running great plains and we are getting a dedicated sql server to combine all of our db's on:
BES, GP, and a couple of dedicated db's.

Being that this is a fresh install, I want to do it right the first time.

I am looking for a great starter book and reference book for sql 2005, hopefully something like Mark Minasi and his 2003 server books.

Thanks guys

I am a big fan of 'Inside SQL Server XXXX' by Kalen Delany for internals. Check out the whole 'Inside SQL Server 2005' series for 2005-specific stuff. Top 4 items on this list

If you are looking for a T-SQL book, 'The Gurus Guide to Transact-SQL' by Ken Henderson is IMO the best there is.

With all due respect, Don Bot, I don't think we should rely on an accident happening. Let's kill him ourselves.

Ignorance of certain subjects is a great part of wisdom

There's also a good faq's here on books: faq183-3324

Hope this helps,

Alex
