Reference codes popups are not accessible for searching in ref.codes tab of MSQ's /like MSQ541/. All other pop-ups are OK.Reference codes are defined. So popup in reference code search window is empty. Does anyone have any experience with this issue?/.

Petbul,
I also experienced the same thing before for MSQ620 where the users cannot get the 'Search' button appear on their screen. Well, you go to help and search for what type of screen it is. If it is MSQ, go to MSQ020 and fix the MSQ program that attach to that particular Global Profile. Make sure that MSQ has full access and also check on its 'Attributes'. Make sure, you have that function enabled or full access. Does this ring any bell?

Hello,
Have you somebody any experience with using MSB904 batch or input table MSF903? We would like use this but there are many unanswered questions in the documentation. B-(

Hiya .... oh .... its my first post ... What a Find!!!

Jump into MSO070 and find the ref code in question (well search via MSO074). Down the bottom of the window is the field "Alternate Acess" ... and change it to "Y".

Effectively this field allows searches via MSQs.

:)

Peter:

I also use Reference Codes in the MSO600 / 620 programs. I have created some User Defined tables that are validated on the MSF070 and the Alternate Access = 'Y'. The table is not presented for review evening using '?'. It goes to the MSO011, but it doesn't bring up the table. Ideas anyone?

Donna,

A quick lesson on Reference Codes and User Defined Tables to help clarify some of the terminology...

Reference Codes are keyed on what is called an Entity Type. These are defined using table 'RCEN'. Mincom have defined certain Entities such as EQP (for Equipment) and WKO (for Work Orders) and these are only usable from each particular module eg MSO600 for EQPs and MSO620 for WKOs. These entity types are known as Mincom Defined Entities.

When a user such as ourselves adds a Table Code to RCEN we are defining a User Defined Table. The only ways these tables can be used online are via MSO071 (Updates) and MSO072 (Review).

Once the Entity Type is defined in RCEN, reference codes are defined via MSO070. On the MSO070 screen we have the option of specifying a table to which all entries entered are validated against. To do this we have to add a valid MSO010 table type and an error code. When a user enters a value that does not exist on the table file, the error code is used to determine what to tell the user. The standard code is 0041 which will show "Table code not on table file".

To enable the question mark to work correctly for reference codes that have validation tables, you have to add a new table code to the ER table type and enter the table type as part of its associated record. You then use this new table code as the Error Code on MSO070.

Once you get this setup correctly, your Question Mark and GUI drop down boxes should work.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Mark.

MarkMd,

This was a well construed contribution that got you a star!
I would add the following clarifications:
1. replace "table" with "entity" in the following paragraph to eliminate confusion between user-defined reference code entities and user-defined msf010 tables, as both were referred to in this stream:
"When a user such as ourselves adds a Table Code to RCEN we are defining a User Defined <<Entity>>. The only ways these <<entities>> can be used online are via MSO071 (Updates) and MSO072 (Review)."

2. another possible step after creating the RCEN table record for the entity is to create the screen descriptions for the sub-components of the primary key for a reference code; this will be done by creating records on table RCEL of MSF010; eg create records CLN01, CLN02, CLN03 for client entity 'CLN' that has 3 keys defined. The descriptions will be displayed by MSO071 and MSO072.
