refer to a control on a subreport1 from subreport2

I have a main report. On this report I have two subreports, neither of which are linked.

I have a figure say 1000 in field1 on subreport1
I habve a figure 500 in field2 on subreport2
I need to calculate the difference of field1 and field2 and populate field3 on subreport2 with this difference.

I have tried to refer to this control on subreport1 and keep getting name error

=Reports!Final_allocodes!FINANCIAL_ALLCODES.Report![CurrentMonth-Actual]

Please help.

The syntax might perhaps look something like this:

[tt]=Parent!FINANCIAL_ALLCODES.Report![CurrentMonth-Actual][/tt]
