#Ref Error

I have a third party querying product I'm using within Excel, but when it refreshes a query with less rows than the last refresh it deletes rather than clearing the contents of the old/extra rows. This causes any formula pointing to that area to come up with a #Ref error, any ideas how I can get around this?
