ref collisions on my network.

to start with im new to net working so bear with me!
ive got a 4 port net gear hub and it works fine with winme home networking.
also i got a d-link 25port 10t hub but if i put my cableing in to the dlink hub i get a constant collision light as soon as i look for another pc on the net work from any machine.
i thought the hub was faulty but dlink sent it back sying no fault found.
if i plug the cables back into the net gear it works fine?
any ideas.

Are the NIC 10/100 or 100 only? The 10T hub will show constant collision with 100 NIC's.
