Hi,

I have a general query, relating to two HDD's... one Western Digital IDE 80GB (P/N: WD800BB) and a samsung SP0802N again IDE 80GB,
Both of these drives have an RPM of 7200k.
I know that on SCSI interfaces, the RPM of the disk can be regulated so that it matches any board settings. in example, the disk could slow down to 5200k rpm. Is this also true of IDE connections, are you able to apply a level of control over the RPM speed of the disk?

Thanks

Not that I've heard of - have you Googled the subject?

Drive speed settings are fixed. The interface speed settings do change. High speed IDE interfaces will slow down to match the channel speed. That is called backwards compatible.
