Using Photoshop CS3/vista. I have several hundred images I shot at very high res (12 meg) of small hardware pieces. I am uploading them to my website and need to reduce the size so they will load more quickly. Not having success trying to reduce the file size because the images look bad when I make them smaller. Is there a 3rd party plug-in that specializes in taking large files and making them smaller while still retaining image quality? I see several that take small files and make them larger, but none that do what I want.

Thanks

...the bridge application provided by adobe is perfectly adequate for batch processing large numbers of images in a given folder, this is found under the tools > photoshop > image processor...

...on top of resizing and file formats you can also apply further actions created in photoshops action palette in the image processor dialog...

...the alternative is to create a 'file > save for web' action in photoshop and create your own droplet or batch function via the 'file > automate' options...

...when you refer to "bad when made smaller" in what form do you mean?

...fine details will always become less when reducing, you also need to be careful with the level of compression used in jpeg format...

...photoshop is the de-facto with regards to web graphic work...

...be handy if you can provide a sample image link to show the quality loss you are experiencing?
