Dear Colleagues,
I am a bit of a novice when it comes to video editing. I have authored a few dvds here and there complete with menus – generally, I can put together a decent package.
I have been asked to put together a few training videos. Nothing really write home about and the editing work is fairly straightforward. A cut or two here and there, some introductory sound clips, a title here and there and nothing in the way of after effects.
I am using the latest version of Adobe Premier on a machine that has 4 gigs of ram and an AMD Athlon 42 X2 processor. The hard drives are 7200 RPM Western digital drives each with a capacity of 320 gigs so it seems that my hardware is adequate.
The problem is that my render times are insane. For example, I have a one hour video clip with two or three very simple edits and titles and still, its taking about 12 hours for the render process to occur.
My problem is that I have essentially been playing with the preset output settings with smaller clips to see if I can find one that generates a good quality video, but in terms of how to truly tweak things so that the render times come down to something more manageable. . . well, that’s something that I am not familiar with.
I am posting this in the hopes that there are some Premier Pro folks out here who can shed some light on how to reduce video rendering times. Any information that can be provided with regards to this would be highly appreciated.
Regards,
Walt Ellena
