Can you guys tell me in short what exactly is use of redo log files , datafiles since it say that both are used at the time of back up recovery...

Can you tell me the differnce if possible

datafiles contain the data for the database (tables indexes) , the redologs contain the last changes to the database and ensure database integrity upon recovery.
