We have an application that currently talks to SQL Server. We are considering implementing MySQL support but not with an open source approach. I have a couple of questions:

a) Can we freely redistribute MySQL or would each user of our application have to buy a MySQL licence?

b) How much disk space would the basic reistributed MySQL soak up on the user's PC before they start adding data?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for pushing me in the right direction and for guidance and install size.

I don't find it easy getting the info I need from the MySQL site but, yes, it would appear that a commercial licence of some sort ("OEM Embedded Database Products") will allow us to redistribute.

Prices don't seem to be readily available for these products. Any idea?

Agreed that appears the only option - we are still waiting on reply from web/email enquiry placed about a week ago which is effectively what brought me to the good ol' forum. Ah well.

Thanks again.
