Redirection

Hi folks,

I'm in the process of writing PHP based portal, and would like to know what peoples opinions are when it comes to redirecting a visitor to another page when a user name and password have been matched.

I am thinking of using a meta refresh with o seconds to redirect if the user/pass match correctly.

Any recommendations, suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
