Redirecting via proper URL name?

Hi..

I have just setup a Sharepoint 3.0 site for internal use only.. As of now it's accessed via the IP address, or the actual name of the machine. Is it possible to setup a internal only .com address, that would redirect to the IP address of the machine running the Sharepoint services?

Add the name such as sharepoint to your internal DNS servers in the same DNS domain as your AD network. Then people will just need to type in sharepoint to get to the machine.

You want to add a CNAME record pointing to the physical machine's A record.
