I have a GPO that runs for all users. When I move thhem from there workgroup onto my new domain. I want there My Documents folder to point to there own personal home directory. I have already got it so this network drive is mapped when they log in. I have tried the following on hte edit GPO function but it has no effect:

Expand User Configuration.
Expand Windows Settings.
Expand Folder Redirection.
Right-click My Documents, and then click Properties.
Click Basic.
In the Target Folder Location box, type the path as:
\\servername\sharename\username

I must be doing something wrong? Any help would be appreciated.

GPO on a workgroup?

users on workgroup have one SID in a domain another, you know that, right?

I now have folder redirection set up on 'My Documents' in a Windows Server 2003 domain. It works fine. It points the My Documents folder to \\Server\User Areas and it creates a 'My Documents' folder automatically for the user the first time they log on. One small problem though! The user can access this folder fine through the desktop. However, when they try and access it via MS Word for example via the Open screen, if I click on the shortcut folder 'My Documents' it displays a "You do not have access to this folder \\Server\User Area". If I browse to it the user can get to it, shortcuts to 'My Documents' don't seem to work in applications! I can't grant users access to the whole of the 'User Areas' folder as this would give everyone access to everyone's personal files. ANY IDEAS on how to sort this problem out?
