Hi Guys,
Just need to know if I can redirect output/errors after I've already started a job ( either in foreground or background)
Any thoughts ??
TIA

The stdout, stderr of which process ?
If the current, the short answer is yes.
If the already spawned, only it can redirect the streams.

Hope This Help

I set off a job to tar out ( -x ) some large tarred files.
I didn't send the out or err stream to /dev/null
I wish I had ! I need to do other work, incl. vi sessions,
and I'm getting a messy screen.
I guess the best thing to do is start another telnet session.
Thanks anyway.

I think it's to late (and that you knew this option), but you can send the Interrupt key (or kill the process) and resubmit the job with the good redirection :)
