redirect based on host name

I'm new to PHP and wonder how i would do this:

if user enters

http://www.companyA.com

he will be redirected to

http://www.companyA.com/companyA/index.php

if user enters

http://www.companyB.com

he will be redirected to

http://www.companyA.com/companyB/index.php

and so on... It would also be good to have a default page if all the IF's doesn't work.

I think this could be done more from Apache as you are looking for a DocumentRoot based on Domain name. This can be configured in the Virtual Host section, but relies on one machine hosting all of the domains.

That code will read the host name entered by the user and redirect the browser to proper page.
