Redirect a Sharepoint site to a different url

I've got users that keep handing out the wrong URL to a site. They keep saying that the site is, for example

http://www.MySharePointSite.com/sitename

when in fact it's

http://abc.DomainName.com/sitename

http://www.MySharePointSite.com

is a SharePoint site (obviously) and sitename is not a subsite of

http://www.MySharePointSite.com.

So, is there an easy way to redirect users from

http://www.MySharePointSite.com/sitename

to

http://abc.DomainName.com/sitename

with out creating sitename as an actual SharePoint subsite?

Oh, 1 other thing, I should mention that

http://www.MySharePointSite.com

is a hosted SharePoint site so I don't have access to edit IIS or SharePoint Central Administration.

You can add a content editor web part to

http://www.MySharePointSite.com/sitename

and then in the source editor of the web part, add the javascript -

In order to do that though, I'd need to create

http://www.MySharePointSite.com/sitename

as a sub site to

http://www.MySharePointSite.com,

right?

yeah, you would need to create that site.

Crud, I really didn't want to waste the server space just to redirect a URL that my users are too dumb to hand out correctly. *sigh* So what would be the best sub site to create it as? Just a team site or is there something with a smaller footprint as I'm only using it to redirect users.

user SharePoint designer and create a new aspx page named with the subsite name. within that page, just add the javascript to redirect -
