Hi there,

Has anyone successfully got Redhat 7.3 working on VMWare? I can install the OS ok but XWindows refuses to start with error:
EE: screens found but none have a usable configuration.

Does VMWare create a virtual VESA driver or does it let the OS physically probe the hardware? I am only running a trial version of VMWare and therefore cannot get any support from them. The FAQ they have on this problem does not work!

Thanks for any help in advance, Glenn

You need to replace the Xserver with the one located in VMware Tools. There are instructions on extracting the vmware-tools.tgz and how to setup X.
