Which FTP server daemon are you using (eg. Proftpd, vsftpd, wu-ftpd).

Are you running a firewall on that box?

What is the output of the command "lsof -Pni" ??

I ran lsof -Pni and did not see proftpd, wu-ftpd, or vsftpd. ran ntsysv and do not see these services there. I looked around on the net and found downloads for these programs.

Which one do you suggest?

I had shut the firewall off.

thanks

Your linux distribution almost certainly came with at least one FTP daemon.

As far as recommendations, folks seem to come down in two camps. Proftpd for ease of use, vsftpd for security.

The latter is "harder" to configure.

I must of missed it in the original build but I was able to go back and add the vsftpd package. I rebooted and all is good to go.

Thanks for the help;
