I have webmin set up on redhat 9. It is sitting behind a router, but i have the NAT fowarding requests for the port to 192.168.1.4 (inside addy). I have log into webmin from the lan, but not from the wan side. I might have it all messed up, but i think i understand that you could do a were 208.152.191.XXX is my static, public IP and 100XX is the port that webmin is running on. Do i have it right? When i try to hit it from WAN side, i can see the traffic being forwared to that IP, but will not give me a log in screen. I even tried the and no go. What the heck have i got wrong?

A REAL Linux newbie, so be gental [bigglasses]

i was thinking that, but i do not host any domains at this location.

First, the most recent versions of Webmin only allow secure logon -
10000 is the default port number. If your router is set to forward requests on port 10000 to the internal IP of the linux machine, you should be all set.

Here's a few other things to look into - you will need to do this from inside your network, since you can't get to it from outside. On the Webmin tab, Webmin Configuration button, IP Access Control. For example, I have my server set to allow only from inside my network 192.168.1.0 and from my home 216.xxx.xxx.xxx. Recently, I forgot that and tried to access it from another remote location and tried a couple of times before I remembered. You could set it to 'allow from all addresses' for testing purposes, but I don't recommend leaving that way, because all someone has to do is guess your password to take control of your server.
