Hi,
I've just installed redhat 9 but I'm having issues with the network card. I can ping the card but I can't get out onto the network. I tried activating the card however it didn't seem to work.
If I do an ifconfig I don't see a listing for eth0 so I'm not sure if Linux sees the card.
Any suggestions would be great !

Thanks
Homer

Does
Code:
ifconfig -a
show your card? Does your network use DHCP or static IPs?

What kind of network card are you using?

Lets find out if the module is loaded, type lsmod and look for the network card module. You would have to know which module your network card uses.

Popular cards:
Intel Gig Card: e1000
Intel 10/100 Express Pro: e100
3Com 3C905X : 3c95xx
3Comm Gig Broadcom: bcm5700
Real Tek: rtlxxx

After we find out if the module is loaded, type dmesg and look for messages about the driver. Also look at /var/log/messages for the same.

I typed "lsmod " and nothing that resembled a network card came up. I am using a Cicero network card ( and have tried a Netgear , but I think it's dead ) .

I think it just might not be finding the nework card.

Sorry, don't know that card or what driver it uses. Have you been to their website?
