Redhat 9 Install Issue

I am trying to install redhat 9 on my HP ze4400 laptop. I already have winxp instaled, and left some unpartioned space for linux.

When i go to boot of the cd, i have tried both graphical and text install. When it gets to the screen where it asks to perform a check on the CD media, it just locks up.

Any suggestons?

You can run from boot :linux mediacheck.
Did you download RH 9 or original cd from RH ?

downloaded copy, copy works, been used just the other day on antoher machine

Did you select not to do a media check, or does it lock up once it asks?

Would a network install over NFS be feasible? If so, I'll write instructions if needed.

you can also try ide=nodma at the boot prompt
