So I got a Linux server at my house that I have a Emulex LP8000 installed in to connect to my Clariion EMC SAN. I do not keep the SAN on all the time. I just turn it on when learning or what not. During the boot process it loads the lpfcdd.o modules and probes the HBA. It doesn't connect as the SAN is off.

So last night I installed a RAID card , Promose FastTrak TX2. I got everything working correctly last night the FastTrak card connects as scsi0 . sda, sda1,sda2,sda3..

So I changed the fstab file swap location to sda3.. Everything is working fine..

Now today when I turne the SAN on and rebooted the linux box the Emulex card takes up scsi0 and the promise card takes up scsi1. So the swap file is not connected because it has changed to sdb3.

Is there anyway to make the FastTrak card connect first before the Emulex card? or make the FastTrak card take SCSI1 all the time?

which files would I modify to change the startup order on these modules or devices.. Or how to make the promise fasttrak card use Scsi1 all the time?

Thanks,

Dave

read the documentation of your LP8000 and take a look to "persistent binding" -OR- you can load the module manually (or by script) after the system is up.

Cheers.
