I have a redhat 8 box with stock rpm sendmail install that i ran a Nessus security scan agaisnt the other day, and ever since then i have noticed that sendmail has stopped accepting local connections. The mail log file will have entries like:
Jan 28 11:35:46 Alpha sm-msp-queue[5497]: j0RA4V0t002285: to=root, ctladdr=root (0/0), delay=1+07:31:15, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=relay, pri=3000241, relay=[127.0.0.1], dsn=4.0.0, stat=Deferred: Connection refused by [127.0.0.1]
This is not a production box. The only thing sendmail is used for is local machine mail, such as logwatch and a few others.
It always worked up to the scan, and i cant seem to figure out what happened. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
