I can not seem to disable the firewall in redhat 8.0. I set it to none in the 'redhat-config-securitylevel' program but it changes it back to High every time.

Ive looked around on this board for a solution but they seem to involve ipchains but ipchains is not listed in 'chkconfig --list' iptables is though.

any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Redhat 8.0 GUI is a little buggy. I tried configuring my network with the netcfg GUI, its just a disaster. One attempt with command-line, everything worked fine. Regarding your firewall, try using the 'setup' command. You can configure the Firewall from there as well. Also, its wise to reboot after you have changed the settings. If your firewall still won't do what it tells you to do, then i guess you have no choice but to edit iptables yourself.
