Hi all,

I have a PC running Pentium III 45O(Katmai) chip on a TOMATO(Zida) Motherboard supporting Intel810 Graphics chipset. Here are the other features,

128MB RAM,
48X LG Atapi CDROM drive,
6.5GB HDD,
Onboard Crystal 3D Audio Codec.

I am trying to install RedHat 7.1 on the machine. I have a linux main/swap partition in the HDD. The redhat installation hands at this point.

running /sbin/loader...

Then system hangs forever. I was able to debug the problem by switching to another virtual terminal before the freeze... This is where the
problem happens..

trying to mount /dev/hdb...

Looks like it is trying to mount the cdrom but is unable to. Btw the installation was unable to detect DMA so has it got to do something with this ... ?

Any help is welcome...

Thanks

Anand

Hi,

There is a known problem with the 7.1 installer and dma under some circumstances. You can try again but this time pass 'ide=nodma' as an argument to the boot: prompt right at the start.

boot: linux ide=nodma

or for text-mode :

boot: linux text ide=nodma

Hope this helps

Coool... that worked like a breeze...

Thanks
