Hey all,

Just trying to get a couple pieces of last minute advice before I make my Linux purchase. Right now I am looking to go with Red Hat but am still not positive which OS to get from them and also want to make sure I get the right one for the processor I have, I am running with an AMD Athlon 2500.

Looking on the Red Hat site it seems there are a couple of options for the personal desktop implementation:

- Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS
for desktop/client systems
(This has both basic and standard editions)

- Red Hat Professional Workstation
Enterprise Linux for personal use

Just so you know this is for my own home use. Any advice or information on the proper choice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance...

For starters if this is for home use.. ie.. a lab, get Fedora which is RedHat 9 before they went to a pay as you go. It's free for the downloading and it comes with *everything* but the kitchen sink :)

Three CDs which can be downloaded for free and they will provide updates via the up2date application.

It appears on the Red Hat site that they say to look for the Fedora Project from third party vendors and web sites.

Do you know of any good sites to pull this from?

Thanks!
