can i remove linux from an x-windows system? if yes, then how?

Hi,

Not sure at all what you mean. If you mean can you 'remove' the console only part of a linux system and just leave X the the answer is no. X runs on top of an operating system (linux / unix / even windoze) and is not an operating system in its' own right. All you could do is uninstall some of the console-only utilities if you wished to save a bit of space.

The only other thing that maybe you mean is to default to X on start-up instead on console mode and then having to type 'startx'. If that's what you means see --> .

Hope this helps
