I have installed Red Hat 6.2 (RH) on a machine. It installed a version of Apache as part of RH. Then I installed a newer version of Apache, Apache_1.3.12, on the same machine. Now I have two “httpd.conf” files, one installed by RH at “/etc/http/conf” and the second one installed by the newer version of Apache at “/usr/src/apache/conf”.

My questions are:

1. How can I remove the older version of Apache before installing the newer (Apache) version

2. Where are the settings that tell the Linux system which Apache to load at boot time?

Sincerely,

Justin Bishop
