Red Hat 8 and Compaq installation conflict

Hi,

I'm having problems with installing Red Hat 8 on my Compaq Presario 2100 laptop. After I install the CD, the installation starts and makes it to Initializing PC cards screen then freezes up on the next screen which allows testing of the CD media. I've tried using the DVD and CD versions. Does anybody know of any conflicts with Compaq and Red Hat 8 or what I need to do to install it? It has a 1.8 GHz celeron processor, 256 MB memory with Windows XP installed.
