Hi i'm a newbie trying to learn linux. I need help installing red hat 7.3 on my computer. Its weird since i didn't have any problems installing 7.2. When i insert the cd and turn on the computer the linux installation preferences appear ... Welcome to Red Hat 7.3 to run in text mode type text blah blah right? I've tried all other options (a) enter for graphical mode (b) text mode (c) lowres (d) nofb (e) linux noprobe (f) linux mem=256m (g) linux mem=256m noprobe. Even if i choose any of the 6 choices i'd end up with the error below. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I had a problem with the modprobe hanging during any form of install. MY h/w was a CPQ 1850R. I had to BIOS disable the onboard NIC to allow the process to complete the install. Then, once running, I reenabled the NIC thru BIOS, and went through the process to enable the NICs

Just one flavor of fixing a broken install process. Great linux once running!
