You could run 'Xconfigurator' as root and change your resolution there, or you could just hack the file Xconfigurator creates for you, namely "XF86Config". That file can most likely be located in /etc/X11/. Towards the bottom of the file are the screen resolution settings. Read the file comments to change the appropriate setting.
