Rectangular Marquee Tool 1

Hi All,
When I tried to select a part of an image using the rectangular marquee or elliptical marquee tool, only a small portion is getting selected, when i try to drag, it just wouldn't go forward. Is this any defect with the software or just some settings need to be changed. Please help

Make sure feather is set to zero in select tool

Yes the feather is set to 0, still not able to make a proper selection, i re-installed the s/w still the same, but works properly on adobe image ready. any other suggesstions?

Make sure in the Marquee options the Style is set to Normal and not Fixed Size.
