ReCrystallize Question

If we design reports in Crystal Reports 8.0, and then use ReCrystallize to create the web pages, my understanding is that it utilizes the viewers.

How many people can access one report using these viewers concurrently?

Does ReCrysallize utilize the web components with Crystal Reports or does it do it itself?

Im asking here as nobody is answering my emails to ReCrystallize.

I would be grateful if anyone who has ReCrystallize would let me know.

Thanks for that answer Andrew.

With the demo version, I had 6 people looking at the same report. The demo version is for saved data only, is there a difference between saved and run-time? Im guessing there is.

So to expand the number of concurrent licences without going to CE, do I have to just buy multiple licences of CR to cover the number of users, or is there another licence I can buy to guarentee x numbers of concurrent users?

I phoned the UK Crystal Sales desk yesterday, and they had never heard of ReCrystallize, so I gave them the address!

Nick

From personal experience, Crystal are very touchy about reCrystallize as they see it as a competitor to Enterprise - they don't understand either product!
There is nothing in the Crystal ASP implementation that prevents you exceeding the license count. In fact, until SCR8.5, there was no license limit as the ASP stuff counted as part of the free runtime.
We can supply both CE and recrystallize licenses (though we're not supposed to sell through these forums!) Andrew Baines

Thanks again Andrew

To clarify, are you saying that throught the ASP we are limited to 5 concurrent users by licence but we are not limited by the system?

Nick

to legally expand the number of concurrent licences is our only option to buy licences of CR to cover the multiples of 5 or is there any sort of other license we can buy?

And also, are you saying, from one of your earlier posts that there isnt actually a runtime limit anyway on CR 8.0

To expand the ASP stuff, you buy Enterprise Standard licenses.
The windows runtime has no license limit unless you fall foul of the Broadcast License (now report distribution license), but that's a long story. If you're not automatically distributing reports to more than 50 users you're OK. Andrew Baines

Nick,

One clarification. I am pretty sure that buying more CR licenses won't expand you beyond 5. That is explicitly stated in the license. To get licenses beyond 5 concurrent users you have to get buy "CALs" (concurrent Access Licenses) from Crystal. Ken Hamady, On-site Custom Crystal Reports Training & Consulting

Ken, how do concurrent access licences work? batches of 5 etc or its a one off payment?

N

I have heard that they strongly encourage a batch of 5, but I also hear that everything is negotiable with regard to licensing. Ken Hamady, On-site Custom Crystal Reports Training & Consulting
