Good day,

I was having a problem with a https site that uses a java plug-in on the login screen. The site would always display "Failed to initialize java plug-in. Contact your system administrator" after 4 to 6 seconds. It worked in other computers, so it was determined that it was a local problem.
Java was uinstalled and reinstalled including version 1.5.0.12 and 1.6.x with no luck. It was uninstalled, every trace of sun java deleted of the hard drive and rebooted. Installation was tried again and even thought other websites work, this one in particular doesn't.

The only solution found was to recreated the profile of the user and the problem would go away.
My question is:
When a profile is recreated in a windows xp computer connected to a domain. Profile I refer to the windows profile and not the java profile, as that the contents of documents and favorites was copied to a new folder and the old one deleted. What gets changed in java?

Java plugin uses the java.policy file that determines the permissions on the client machine. That can be an idea.

Cheers,
Dian
