Recreate NETLOGON.chg

Has anyone ever managed to successfully recreate the netlogon.chg file on their PDC. I'm having some logon problems which I think point to the netlogon.chg being corrupt, I found docs ( that outlined a way to recreate this file however have tried it a number of times and had no luck , anyone got any ideas, all suggestions appreciated.
