7 MS Exchange 2003 Servers (mix of front-end, back-ends)
Need to restore mail using RSG for a particular mailbox.

One of our mail servers which contains this mailbox that needs to be restored only has 1 GB left of space.
The backup of the store is 20 GB. (from Backup-Exec)

I built a new Exchange 2003 server (not in production) and wondering if I create a new RSG in ESM underneath the new mailserver's name but point it to the mailbox's store on the mail server that is less than 1 GB, will I run into any issues?

I have read many articles on how to do this but using the RSG utility on the same mail server where the data resides. My problem is restoring a 20GB store to a mail server that has about 1GB free.

Any thoughts, articles, or how-tos on this?

Thanks in advance

I'm using Tivoli Storage Manager. The Exchange client can be told to restore data from another node/host. So:
- we have a 'restore server' with Exchange, a RSG and pleny of disk space
- we tell the backup-client to act as 'some other node'
- the storage group or database of 'some other node' is restored in the RSG of the 'restore server'
Both servers need to be in the same administrative group
Works fine, and we do not disturb proudction servers while restoring a mailbox.
