I have implemented RAID 1 (mirroring) on my system with two disks. On the boot disk I have the O/S on logical partion c:, apps, data and shares on e: f:, g:

The second disk is the mirror of each of these

Question: If the boot disk crashes, what is the procedure to start the system and recover? Will the system boot the O/S off of the mirror disk? Do I have to change the boot sequence? how? I am not expecting an issue yet it does crash I want to know what I am faced with.

HI.

The best procedure, is simply to reorder the disks in that case, or to remove the failed one.

There is also the options to create a boot diskette and modify the BOOT.INI file. I recommend the first method of placing the good disk as first.
However - creating a boot diskette is also recommended agains other possible problems.

More recommended preparations:
* Create the ERD diskette and mark the option to backup the registry to disk. This might come very handy when needed.
* Create a GHOST image of your C drive and keep it for disaster recovery.
* Backup the "System State" to a file and keep it for future use.

All of this are of course in addition to a full daily backup of your system to tape drive or other media.

Bye
