Hi,
I recently installed Networker server on Windows 2000 with a unix client pack. I can backup and recover files from Windows clients. However, on SGI's I can only do a backup. The recover fails with the message "Error receiving files from the NSR server".

When I do a manual backup from the SGI, I can recover the files fine. Only in the case of a scheduled backup do I see this problem.

NEtwroker version is 6.2 for the server and 6.1.2 for Unix.

I have done nslookup on server name (full and short and IP) and its OK. I have also included full and short name of the server in the servers file.

Has someone seen this problem. Any help will be greatly appreciated. What is really driving me crazy is that I can do manual backup and recovery just fine..

Thanks !!!

I would still suspect a network issue of some sort. You started the recover from the SGI box, right? It is saying it can't receive files...

Can you try to install the storage node software on yout SGI box, create a file device on the storage node, then backup and restore to the file device? You can fine an evaluation license for storage nodes in the media kit.
If this works, then it's likely to be a network issue.

Confirm that both systems are set to the same network settings, for example 100 Mbit full duplex.

Nslookup on the server name is not sufficient to verify network communications. Follow Legato Tech Bulletin 299 for complete list of network tests.

Thanks for your reply.
I am trying to recover from the SGI box. I have tried command line as well as GUI (nwrecover).

What is really surprising is that I can recover my manual backups. Its only the scheduled backups that are causing problems.
