RECOVERY DISK QUESTION FROM A DUMMY

If I use the emergancy recovery disk will this delete program files etc?

What does this disk install?

I just downloaded up dates from microsoft becuase I had to reinstall internet explorer. After updates some programs will not run. I deleted and reinstalled program with no luck.

Any suggestions?

The direct answer is I am not sure, but a very, very good guess to your question about ERD is that you will be fine.

I would be happier if you then made sure it was not a malware issue. See faq608-4650

I have used one on a Compaq and one on an HP and it restored everything to Factory settings and wiped the original. Be careful with that and get your good stuff off first.
