OK what is the deal? Dammit Microsoft!! I'm in need of the recovery console but can't install it. I've got Minasi's book here in front of me which instructs me to use the Win 2k CD (must be misprint?) to install the tools. Upon doing so, the operating system tells me that, '..the version of Windows on your computer is newer than the version on your CD.' OK, fine. However, when I use the same command (winnt32 /cmdcon), while using the Win2k3 CD, I get the same error. So, I'm stuck with a half-a$$ed, unreplicating replica server and I have no way of fixing it.

Have you tried slipstreaming the i386 directory with the same version of service pack on the O/S?

Just a thought.

Chris

Are you doing on this on a Win2K3 machine? I have had this issue also because I could not install Recovery Console after applying Service Pack1. Apparently you will need to boot up from the CD into recovery console and then install it.
