HI

I need to recover a password on MSL, anyone know how?

Actually not necessarily password recovery. I need to chnage the password and i can log in ok but when i go to chnage it in Users it keeps saying the current password is not valid! Even though it's the one i logged in with!

Any ideas?

I've got document on this, hold on while I dig it out....

Reset Mitel Standard Linux passwords

Telnet onto the MSL box using a secure telnet client. When using MAS you will need to use the IP of the 3300 controller on port 2005.
Once on you can reboot the controller using RESET APC the 3300 maintenance command menu, then follow the instructions below.
1. When the server is booting and you see the screen for the boot
option (SME Server-up EL or SME Server) enter an (A) to modify the
kernel arguments before booting.
2. Type in a space after root_ then the word single
you will see.. grub append> ro root=/dev/main/root_ single
(the system will start to boot but will stop at sh-3.00#)
3. Type passwd admin
4. Type the new password and confirm it
5. Type passwd root
6. Type the new password and confirm it
7. Reboot the server
NOTE: Both the admin and root passwords should be identical.
