Hi, My Active directory went down during the promotion of a new domain controller. It destroyed my exchange 2000 organisation, and left me with a big problem. I have my priv1.edb and pub1.edb files, but I cant mount them into a new organisation, and can't find out if I can export the data from them to get at my e-mail store.

What was the primary Domain controller had a disk failure, and there is no backup (Doh!) The BDC which had ex2000 on, tryed to promote up, but failed, loosing AD & exchange org in one quick go.

Help!

Thanks,

Philip Cobb

Thoughts - what errors do you get when starting the exchange services?

Can you run ntdsutil and clean up the indexes? (I seem to recall there is a sort of command line database consistency checker).

Have you tried the eseutil command line interface for Exchange to do a similar check of Exchange?

Failing that, have you thought of emigrating? LOL

I thought all you needed to do was yank the fsmo roles over to the "BDC" ?

NTDSUTIL can do it too... Q255504 Dan
