Recovering files when CFI entries have expired.

I am running NW 6.1.3 on Solaris 8 server with Windows clients. I am using an Overland Data LibraryPro with two AIT-2 drives configured on an LVD SCSI channel. I am trying to recover a single file from an old tape volume whose media entry is still intact, but the CFI entries have expired. The client indexes are contained on the tape volume of interest. Now, I know that the CFI entries must be rebuilt or a complete saveset recovery be performed. However, I was wondering if anyone has a feel for the quickest way to get the file recovered. I also know that "it depends", but I am specifically wondering if I can somehow use the AIT-2 on-tape chip to speed the recovery process. I am being asked to recover several versions of this single file (as many versions as I can produce) which are on many different volumes, most of which the CFI entries have expired.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Do you know the exact path where the file was backed up from? You can specify this during a saveset recovery, and this will certainly speed up the recovery time.

Unfortunately, you will only be able to do a single SS at a time, so if you want multiple versions of the file, you'll have to run the SS recovery multiple times.

Yes, I know the exact pathname and I have specified it during a saveset recovery, but obviously it takes a while. It's the curse of the legacy of the tape backup world -- it takes a lot of time, when time is the more critical issue!
Thanks for your input!

recover -S ssid[/cloneid] -a pathname

will not do anything else but wait until the file from the save set will "pass by"
and will then recover it.

Also, do not forget: The pathname must match exactly - upper and lower case letters matter!
But as a UNIX guy, you of course know that ;-)
