I have deleted a mailbox in error. The garbage collection is set for 7 days. The mailbox was deleted yesterday.
Is there a way for me to recover the mailbox without having to rebuild another server to restore it to. I am using an old copy of backup exec which does not restores individual mailboxes and have a full online backup.

Help please.B-(

The only way I know that you can recover a deleted mailbox without restoring it is a long way.

You will have to build a dummy exchange server the same as your server is setup today, obviously not on your network though. You will have to restore the priv.edb and get exchange working. Once you have done this, you will ahve to exmerge the mailbox to a .pst file then exmerge it back into your production mailserver. Its a lot of work for one mailbox, but in unless you're doing brick level backups, you don't have much of a choice that I know of.

Hey dude, you may have a chance yet..

i presume that you still have a backup of the priv.edb from the backups, say yep...

well go to and download a tool called Ontrack powertools that should allow you to extract the mailbox from a standard workstation, saving you lots of time and you dont have to build that other server..
