I just recovered a rack full of Dell equipment and would like to get it running again. The hard drives have been wiped (DoD standards). The rack has a switch, a Dell Poweredge R905, a Dell PowerEdge 2900, and a battery backup.

What is the best place to start learning how to put this thing back together? I am an IT person, but in mgmt for too long, so not current on server/VM technology. Was the R905 used to support virtualization? That's the only thing that makes sense from what I have read.

There is a MS Windows license sticker for WindowsServer08 std 1-4CPU. I can't get to the R905 yet to see if it has a license sticker as well.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Kurt
