Recover mail folder in Outlook2000, Win98

Hi,
hope someone can help. my boss called the other day and said that someone moved two of his mailbox folders. I was was able to find one the folders stashed away as a subfolder in one of his other folders. however, the folder that he really needs recovered is no where to be found. I did a search for .dbx and .pst files, but I could not find it. I believe it's been deleted, can someone pls confirm or help fix this problem.

First of all, what mailclient is he using?
And next, where is the mail stores, on a server or local?
